One-dimensional Quantum Wires

چکیده
In this paper we investigate the properties of a one-dimensional quantum wire of interacting electrons in the Wigner crystal limit. Recent theoretical work has explored some of the classical and quantum phase transitions associated with this system. For example, there exists a critical density above which the system can lower its energy by forming a quasi-one-dimensional zig-zag chain. We also discuss the potential relevance of such behavior to the so-called 0.7structure.

Conductance in quantum wires by three quantum dots arrays
A noninteracting quantum-dot arrays side coupled to a quantum wire is studied. Transport through the quantum wire is investigated by using a noninteracting Anderson tunneling Hamiltonian. The conductance at zero temperature develops an oscillating band with resonances and antiresonances due to constructive and destructive interference in the ballistic channel, respectively. Moreover, we have fo...

– Phononless plasmon assisted transport through a long disordered array of finite length quantum wires is investigated analytically. Generically strong electron plasmon interaction in quantum wires results in a qualitative change of the temperature dependence of thermally activated resistance in comparison to phonon assisted transport. At high temperatures, the thermally activated resistance is...

متن کاملControlled wave-function mixing in strongly coupled one-dimensional wires
We investigate the transport properties of two strongly coupled ballistic one-dimensional ~1D! wires, defined by a split-gate structure deposited on a GaAs/AlGaAs double quantum well. Matching the widths and electron densities of the two wires brings them into resonance, forming symmetric and antisymmetric 1D subbands separated by energy gaps that are measured to be larger than their two-dimens...
متن کاملZero-bias anomaly in one-dimensional tunneling contacts
We study the Coulomb interaction effects on the tunneling conductance of a contact constructed of two parallel quantum wires. The following contacts are considered: two clean identical quantum wires, two disordered identical quantum wires, and asymmetric contact of one clean and another disordered quantum wires. We show that the low-voltage anomaly of the tunneling conductance is less singular ...
